Karen Jones, a licensed psychotherapist, has maintained a successful private practice for the past twenty years in Orange County, California. She is a nationally recognized lecturer in the fields of multidisciplinary medical marketing, medication adherence, HIV and women, and the psycho-social aspects of chronic illnesses, including HIV and Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS). She has presented the results of her research in the areas of neuropsychology, alcoholism, and attitudes towards women with HIV, at the annual conferences of the American Psychological Association, and The National Council on Alcoholism.
Karen is an award winning philanthropic leader in Orange County, instrumental in the formative years of AIDS education, and the delivery of healthcare services, founding the Laguna Beach HIV Commission, and the Woman's HIV Task Force, along with her dedication to many other AIDS agencies over a twelve year period. In 1998, the City Council of Laguna Beach, a city which for fifteen years demonstrated the highest per capita incidence of AIDS in the nation, honored Karen with a citywide proclamation for her relentless commitment in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
For the past ten years, Karen has been the Director of Psychological Services at the Orange County Center for Special Immunology, and is the immediate past National Director of Psychological Services, for The Center for Special Immunology, Florida, a string of immunology and research centers throughout the US. She has earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in clinical psychology, and is currently completing her dissertation research in behavioral medicine, for a doctoral degree in clinical psychology.
